Emma Hnatko is an undergraduate student at UC Berkeley studying Nutritional Science with an emphasis in physiology and metabolism and minoring in Disability Studies. Her close relationship with her younger sister who has Down Syndrome has driven a unique interest in genomic medicine and disability advocacy. Emma intends to pursue a dual degree MD/PhD following graduation. By becoming a physician-scientist, she hopes to bridge gaps to make healthcare more accessible and equitable for those with disabilities. Outside of school and lab, Emma works for the Special Needs Aquatic Program in Berkeley, and enjoys reading, going to the gym, and traveling!
