The Brown Lab at UC Davis

Developmental Genetics of Eye Development

Located on the Davis campus, we are members of the Department of Cell Biology and Human Anatomy in the School of Medicine, and the Center for Vision Science. Our primary research focus is to understand the molecular mechanisms and genetic pathways regulating the earliest steps of ocular morphogenesis, optic nerve head formation, and retinal ganglion cell and cone photoreceptor neurogenesis. We anticipate this research will contribute to a better understanding of human eye formation, inform the mechanisms of congenital eye disease, and ultimately, the therapies that correct vision loss.

Join us!! We have openings for motivated trainees to contribute in several new research projects.

Undergraduate Students: Interested to join us as a research volunteer? Read our description of potential positions here.
